Welcome to our blog site: Year 8 Everything's Great. It's for Barry's English classes - 8.3 and 8.4.


Everyone is welcome to contibute. You can contribute in a couple of ways.

1. You can add your ideas to the COMMENTS section.

2. You can bring me or send me stories, poems, journal entries, photographs, illustrations - anything you'd

like to see up on our blog - and I will add it.



There are a couple of rules we all need to follow. Here they are:

Rule # 1
Please do not use unacceptable language of any kind.
Rule # 2
Please do not make personal comments about students or teachers on this site.


Challenge Task #1
Have a look at the picture. Now - this is a kid who is really taking on a BIG challenge. He's being a bit rash; he could be biting off more than he can chew; some people would say that he's being foolhardy.

When a person takes a really big risk - like this kid is about to do - we use words and expressions like:

a bit rash
biting off more than you can chew
foolhardy

Here's your challenge.

Look up a Thesaurus, and find at least TWENTY words or phrases that mean foolhardy.
Find some photographs of people being rash or foolhardy. Create a poster either on screen or on an A4 sheet, and hand it in or email it to me.

    I am an idiot seriously say i dont get speed wobbles and fall off i still have nowhere that i can just gradually reduce my speed. i do this and im gonna die, so why am i still thinking about this? i must be crazy, i like to live life too the fullest but i like to live more.

    if i was that kid in the photo, i would not go down the hill, it would be very silly, so i would not go down the hill because i might get hurt and that would not be good. but if i was fored to go down the hill i would sit down so then i would go slower and thats why i would not go down the hill.

    i was gang banging round the top of the hill bru, i new i was going to die if i whent down, but i though i would anyway because i really didnt care any more.
    I put my foot up and the skatebord started to roll i got faster and faster, untile i got on to the pier i jumped over the gate in to the deep blue see.
    "i'm alive, yaaaaaaay"I yelled.

    On a beautiful spring afternoon chillin with the boys on our skateboards being raudy at the skatepark i decide to do something outrageous. i feel invincible, i hop on the board. i start rolling down the hill. It was a complete fail. i fall, i fly, i keep flying. i hit the ground break my neck and die. unfortunatey i wasnt invincible :)

    this kid is bluffing! as if he would do that he's just putting it on for show, he hasnt moved from that spot for the whole time ive seen this pic........god and on an unrelated matter i need the loo!

    i think the kid knows what he's doing cause you can't just do that kind of thing withount thinking it through. But the main thing is, who the hell built a road on a hill that steep?

    well obviously tha kid isn't gonna skateboard down tha hill they just took a pic of him standing there. if he was going to ride down the hill then he is just a complete psycho and no one would be that stupid...

    once upon a time there was a small mouse named rodger. He was malking along the street when he saw a small kid on a sktaeboard looking down a really big hill. Fodger went over and pushed him. He continued crossing the street and then looked down to see what happened. There was the small kid on a skateboard doin a double flip thingy with a triple twisty thingy..........but then he hit a sign and died....THE END
